Miami Heat vs Orlando Magic Game Breakdown #30
Welcome to Simply Ballin’s game breakdown of the Miami Heat. After each game, you will see my thoughts on the game, film breakdown, and other interesting bits that stood out to me.
Another shorter one, not much to breakdown on the defensive end in a game against G-Leaguers
Quick Thoughts
What a great game. I always love to watch players I haven’t even heard off play. The Orlando Magic at full health are still one of the worst teams in the league.
A win’s a win, though.
And in times like these, you can’t be picky about any win you can get. The Heat are without their top players and some key rotations, so any win you get without is an extra one.
The Heat again had one of the best shooting games finishing 19–35 from deep — 12 of those 3s came from two players.
This was another game where they don’t win without their undrafted players exceeding their expectations.
Also good to point out that they had a 17% free throw rate, which was almost triple what they had against both Chicago and Cleveland.
Strus’ Career Night
Did anyone go into this game thinking that Max Strus was going off for 32 points and eight triples? And the fact that he exploded for 20 points in a quarter is even as impressive.
There is not much a defense can do when the guy is hitting contested shots or just pump-fakes into another shot.
He also had a few plays run for him, but none was what the offense initially planned for. The Heat run that double stagger that flows into a dribble hand-off, but on these plays, Strus recognizes that the defense is overplaying him and makes that read to cut
Vincent’s Career Night… Again
This man quite literally set a career-high the previous game and he’s done it all over again — except this time, he did it in a different way.
He still had his share of 3s, as he did against Philadelphia. He finished with four triples and the shooting was looking good.
But what was more impressive is his driving to the rim and finishing in a variety of ways
The Heat have been lacking rim pressure and him doing this when there is no Jimmy Butler or Tyler Herro has helped the team.
